The second book in the Harmony series has everything Mehl’s fans could ask for: romance, mystery and family secrets. The characters are well rounded without being weighed down with boring details. The small-town values are a big part of the story. Mehl is a wonderful author who writes from the heart and it is apparent throughout the book.

Gracie Temple has decided to stay in Harmony, Kan., and takes on freelance graphic design work to support herself. She also wants to be able to have a future with Sam Goodrich, a local farmer. When it turns out her client wants to bring tourism to this quaint town, the people are not very happy with her or the developer.

When accidents begin to happen around the area, Gracie is surprised to realize that everyone suspects her; even Sam starts to question her true motives. Can Gracie clear her name and discover the real culprit or will she turn tail and run back to the city, letting her dreams die along with her future with Sam? (BARBOUR, Dec., 320 pp., $12.99)
