Book Review

SIMPLE GIFTS
by Lori Copeland

Genre: Inspirational, Contemporary Romance

RT Rating

Copeland's wonderful novel treats the reader to a sweet, wholesome, yet sometimes gritty story. The characters are interesting, occasionally a little off the wall, but appealing. The story moves at a fast pace, without bogging the reader down with too many details.

Marlene Queens' life is moving in more directions than she ever thought possible. She's returned home to Parness Springs, Mo., to settle down and hopefully sell her late aunt Beth's house. Marlene's childhood sweetheart is the acting mayor, and the town wants to erect a statute in honor of her father.

Marlene is also fighting to keep
a secret she has kept close to her heart. After everything is said and done, Marlene and the rest of Parness Springs will never be the same again. (Zondervan, May, 336 pp., $12.99)
