The rakish Sir Ashley and feisty Pippa make a good match, and readers will enjoy watching them parry back and forth as their love blossoms. Nichols has packed this plot with many twists and turns. And although the story is interesting, some fans may be disappointed by the lack of depth in her secondary characters in this installment of The Piccadilly Gentlemen's Club series.

Sir Ashley Saunders is part of The Piccadilly Gentlemen's Club, an organization of thief-takers who have pledged to make England safe from criminals of all kinds. However when he agrees to help thwart a band of smugglers operating off the English coast, he doesn't count on endangering his heart in the process!

Twenty-six-year-old Pippa Kingslake knows that she's firmly on the shelf, and sees nothing wrong with providing for her family by secretly publishing popular adventure stories. Her new novel is about smugglers like the ones who operate near her home. When the latest illegal shipment is seized and Pippa's brother and young cousin go missing, Pippa knows that she must act fast. The feisty Pippa turns to Ash for help finding her family. The longer they investigate the harder it is to deny their feelings. (HARLEQUIN, May, dl. $4.99)
