This is the book that loyal Anita Blake fans have been waiting for, though series newcomers may be a bit confused. Hamilton takes Anita back to her crime-solving days, sans the overabundance of metaphysical sex, in a story that's a fast-paced, roller-coaster ride from beginning to end. If Obsidian Butterfly is your favorite Anita Blake book to date, this one just may take its place.

After a vampire serial killer sends Anita an unmistakable challenge, she travels to Las Vegas to help track him down. The vampire community is not the only threat facing Anita in Sin City -- weretigers rule the daylight hours, and their queen wants to control Anita long enough for her to wed the queen's son. It's a good thing Edward is there to watch her back, because she needs his help like she's never needed it before. (BERKLEY, Jun., 496 pp., $26.95)
