In this sequel to Slightly Single, Tracey Spadolini is about 50 pounds lighter than when she was with Will, who dumped her for another woman. At the office Christmas party, she shows off her svelte figure in a tight red dress and attracts the attention of Jack, who just happens to be her boss' roommate. Ack! Forget sleeping over at his place if she ever wants a promotion!
Tracey's friends tell her that it's too soon for her to fall in love again, but she really likes Jack. But what about her friend Buckley, whom she's always been attracted to and who is suddenly single? And why does Will keep calling her?
Tracey is insecure and has many neuroses, but this makes her realistic (although annoying at times). And like many women, Tracey needs to figure out when to listen to her friends and when to listen to herself. A fast, fluffy read. (Feb., 320 pp., $12.95)
