SLOW DANCE WITH THE SHERIFF (3) by Nikki Logan: The Larkville Legacy continues with the story of New Yorker Ellie Patterson and Sheriff Jed Jackson. Ellie has come to rural Texas to meet the family that she never knew existed. Upon her arrival at the ranch, her car is swamped by a herd of cattle and the hottie sheriff comes to her rescue. Although the opening is humorous, it goes on a bit too long, slowing the pace and making Jed seem more like a peeping Tom than a hero. Logan starts with a promising premise, but neither character captures the reader’s imagination.
