Book Review

by Janet Evanovich

Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Suspense

RT Rating

Vampires, dancing bears, murder and mayhem are in the works as the curse of the dreaded “vordo” sets Stephanie’s hormones aflame in the 17th outing of this crazy series. The Morelli versus Ranger romantic dilemma is taken to new heights in this installment, but since the decision has been drawn out over 17 books, hopefully Evanovich will choose to resolve it soon.

After the destruction of Vinnie’s Bail Bond building, the team has been working out of Mooner’s RV. Things take a creepy turn when shallow graves are found on Vinnie’s construction site. When more bodies turn up with notes reading “for Stephanie,” it gets even creepier. Stephanie’s biggest problem may be that Morelli’s grandmother has put “the eye” on her and given her the “vordo,” a kind of sexual/slutty heat that Lula suggests she use to help her finally make the choice between Ranger and Morelli. Bounty Hunter Stephanie Plum is worried when a couple of bodies are discovered at the new bail bonds office construction site. One of the bodies has a note attached to it that reads "For Stephanie". Trying to help Joe Morelli identify the killer, Stephanie comes up with a couple different suspects. But her life is complicated right now by too many men vying for her attention. She has Morelli, Ranger and now Dave, a former high school football star that her mother set her up with.

The 17th book in the Stephanie Plum series has nothing new. I read this series out of habit, not expecting to laugh-out-loud like I did with the first couple of books. The book did gave a few chuckles and is a nice easy read. But don't expect any surprises with this series anymore. My rating: 3.5 Stars.
