SMOOTH TALKING STRANGER
Genre: Contemporary Romance, General Contemporary Romance 2009 Contemporary Romance Nominee Kleypas has written a perfect contemporary romance sure to stand the test of time. Each scene is masterfully crafted, and each emotion feels extraordinarily so real. Readers will be thinking about these superb characters long after closing the pages and rushing out to grab everything Kleypas has ever written. Ella Varner has her life planned out. She has a boyfriend, eats vegan, doesn't believe in marriage and speaks her voice in her regular advice column, "Miss Independent." When her little sister Tara drops her newborn baby off and disappears, Ella takes on the responsibility of raising him until Tara can get back on her feet. Determined to make sure the father is held accountable, she confronts the man her sister names -- notorious ladies' man Jack Travis. Ella has Jack's full attention from the moment she barges into his office demanding a paternity test. Even though he knows full well he's not the baby's father, he still bends over backward to help her. (ST. MARTIN'S, Mar., 352 pp., $24.95) Reviewed By: Annette Elton Publisher: ST. When Ella Varner is left with her sister's newborn baby, she takes matters into her own hands and decides to make the father take responsibility. With a couple possibilities as to who the daddy is, Ella centers on playboy Jack Travis. Jack has a reputation as a ladies man but finally agrees to take a paternity test.
I totally loved the hero and heroine of this book. Jack is the kind of guy any woman would love to meet. He helps Ella with the baby, even when her lousy boyfriend wants nothing to do with the infant. Ella doesn't want to get close to anybody, including Jack or baby Luke. But we know it is a losing cause in both cases. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
