Forget watching Miracle on 34th Street to get into the holiday spirit this year, just read Roberts’ story of modern-day Christmas miracles, friendship and love. This short tale is heartwarming and touched with humor.

Recently dumped and nearly broke, Kiley wanders into an antique shop and feels compelled to buy an enchanting snow globe. The shopkeeper tells her that the treasured antique helped a grieving widower mend his broken heart. Kiley definitely could use a miracle, too. When she sees that the globe’s scenery has changed, she takes a leap of faith and searches out what the snow globe shows her. She realizes now that she’s found happiness, she must share the snow globe with her two best friends, who are each searching for solutions to their own problems. They each discover, just as Kiley did, that Christmas miracles really can come true. (ST. MARTIN’S, Nov., 176 pp., $14.99)
