In his own estimation, Walker Pearce is just a dumb cowboy. Smart girls never look twice at him, especially Charlotte “Charlie” Allington, his former high school tutor who has returned to their hometown. Charlie is trying to overcome massive humiliation from a scandal that got her fired from her previous job. She’s not looking to get involved with anyone — even sexy Walker. But the passion that flares between them threatens to scorch them both. When long-held insecurities threaten their relationship, Charlie and Walker have to decide if the love they found is stronger than what they believe. (HQN, Oct., 384 pp., $7.99)
