SOARING HOME (4) by Christine Johnson: Pearlman, Mich., 1918: Darcy Shea has one dream — to fly airplanes. Jack Hunter is testing an experimental aeroplane for the war effort. He lands in Pearlman with plane problems, and meets Darcy, but he is not interested in teaching her to fly. Finally he gives in to her demands and knows immediately this was a mistake; he does not want to be responsible for another person dying. This is a wonderful, sweet love story with amazing, strong characters who have dreams they know will be hard to make come true, but they are determined to overcome any bumps in the air, and on the ground. Johnson writes from her heart and it shines in her book.
