SOME KIND OF MAGIC
by Theresa Weir

Genre: Contemporary Romance, General Contemporary Romance

RT Rating

It is artist Claire Maxfields birthday and all she has to show for it is a supposedly magical voodoo doll given to her by a friend. The long, cold winter gets even chillier as Claire is dumped by her boyfriend for a rich older woman. Wishing for some excitement, Claire gets just that when a man pops up in her back seat and threatens her with a gun. Forced to drive him to her remote cabin home, Claire fears for her life. Once they get home however, Claire discovers that her kidnapper is both injured and nearly frozen.

The man, calling himself Dylan, survived a plane crash only to be shot at by law enforcement officials. The small plane was reportedly carrying a chess champion and an escaped fugitive. Since the chess champ has been rescued, that leaves the fugitive still unaccounted for. As Claire and Dylan spend time alone, an attraction builds between them. Are these sparks real or could they be the result of Claires birthday voodoo doll?

Ms. Weir works her usual magic with this offbeat and quirky romantic tale. Enjoy. (Nov., 336 pp., $5.99)
