SOME LIKE TO SHOCK
The Daring Duchesses return to once again scandalize the ton. Though Mortimer’s tale has undertones of domestic abuse and murder, it is a light love story centering on a passionate relationship. Readers who cherish romance above all else will enjoy this tale where deeper issues take a backseat, and problems are too easily resolved.
Genevieve Forster, widowed Duchess of Woollerton, is finally free to live her life as she pleases. After an abusive marriage, she is wary of love but she is considering discreetly taking a lover. Lord Benedict Lucas has earned the sobriquet Lucifer by constantly shocking the ton, but Benedict is on a secret mission to locate his parents’ killer. A little affair with the duchess would be the perfect cover for his investigation. However, his plans spin out of control when he discovers the pleasure of unleashing Genevieve’s wild side. As he’s drawn into her life, Benedict uncovers passion, love and a lead to the killer’s identity. (HARLEQUIN, 224 pp., $6.25)
