SONG FROM THE ABYSS
Carter’s newest novella is a twisted and entertaining ride to the other side of normal. Fans of the genre will enjoy this story, even if it feels a little truncated. Carter’s characters are intriguing, as is their romance, but the story feels a little rushed and unfinished.
Alyce Scott has returned to her aunt’s home, which she has not stepped into since the night her aunt drugged her and tried to use her to open a portal into another dimension. When she obeys a faint voice urging her to play a certain CD, she releases her first boyfriend, Dean, from the other dimension’s grasp. Dean disappeared seven years ago; now he sports octopus-like tentacles. While the passion between them the burns hotter then ever, it will take a lot more to get over the betrayal that Alyce feels.
