Sawyer skillfully entwines the love of God’s word and its wisdom into a beautiful love story between two young people trying to discover their true purpose. She is able to expose our weaknesses and God’s grace, while showing how God works through others to guide and protect in order that we might truly see His wonderful ways of providing. The reader will want to firmly trust in God’s love.

Sadie Wagner comes to Goldtree expecting to delight audiences with beautiful melodic hymns, but the opera house isn’t quite what she expected. She is working two jobs, as a mercantile clerk and a singer, to save money for her family. The new sheriff, Thad McKane, wants to use the money he earns as a lawman to pay for his training to become a minister and he would like to court Miss Sadie, but when he hears her practicing bawdy tunes, he wonders if she’s less innocent than she seems.
