This journey into the world of an undercover agent trying her best to fit in with an all-male team is a fast-paced story that will have you holding your breath from beginning to end. Not only is the story jam-packed with action and suspense, but the two main characters are a true team, one you’ll wish you could be friends with in real life. Their partnership is truly well-written, and will bring to mind the fantastic relationship between Mulder and Scully of The X-Files fame.

Agent Kieralyn Beckett has tried her best to solve the case of women being sold into slavery. Using every technique and reporter friend she has at her disposal, Kieralyn skirts around the law searching for answers. Soon, she’s outside the door of Ian Cabrera.

Ian is a true genius, a blind genius, who uses his other senses to decode the clues and bring criminals to justice. As he sits in his pitch-black room and listens to the audiotape that Kieralyn has brought to him, Ian hears someone mention a name from his past. The name belongs to a person Ian believes has been dead for years — his father. Together, Ian and Kieralyn are determined to stop the slavery ring and uncover the truth about Ian’s past, all while a huge attraction forms between them. (SAMHAIN, Aug., 155 pp., $13.95)
