When border patrol agent Eli Carmichael discovers a deaf young girl carrying a bloody knife, he knows something traumatic has occurred. It soon becomes clear she's witnessed a crime, and Eli needs to keep her safe. He asks Isabel Valenzuela, his former partner's widow, for help. As Eli and Isabel grow closer, so does the danger. Elizabeth White has written a fast-paced, intriguing story with Sounds of Silence (4). The deaf child adds a unique dimension, and the characters' reliance on God is rock solid.
