SPECIAL AGENT’S SURRENDER (4) by Carla Cassidy: Realtor Layla West leaves her office late one day, and when she gets into her car someone tries to strangle her. She manages to escape. Sheriff Tom Grayson and the investigators find a syringe in the back of Layla’s car. Four women, including Tom’s sister, have disappeared from the town in the last few months. Fearing Layla is next, Tom and his brothers take her to a cabin on their property so her assailant can’t find her. Tom’s brother, Jacob Grayson, an FBI agent, is also holed up in the cabin, where he’s been for six months, drinking. Jacob was tracking a serial killer named the Professor but failed. Now it appears the Professor has followed Jacob and is killing again, and Layla’s his new target. An exciting story with well-drawn characters who have to find the courage to love and trust.
