Gabby O'Farrell is determined to be the first female to win the NASCAR Nextel Cup in Speed Bumps (4), by Ken Casper. There are only two things standing in her way. One is her mother's determination to turn her into a proper Southern lady; the other is her growing attraction to her boss, Vaughn Steiner. As their feelings for each other grow, so does Gabby's love for Vaughn's daughter, Stephanie. The trials of racing are abundantly clear in this wonderful novel, but it's the secondary characters that make it shine. Gabby's mother, Della, is a thoroughly unlikable, deceitful character, and Vaughn's mother-in-law, Grace, isn't much better. Stephanie, however, is a delightful addition to the story.
