Reichs returns with a complex and intriguing story of murder and identity confusion. Tempe’s personal and private lives collide when she is sent to Hawaii to work on a very puzzling case. Reichs excels at combining forensic details with Byzantine plots. Excellent as always!
Although the circumstances surrounding a drowning in Quebec are a bit odd, Temperance Brennan is more concerned about the victim. Fingerprints identify the man as John Lowery, who was supposed to have died in Vietnam. If this was John Lowery, then who is buried in his grave? Tempe is sent to Hawaii to examine the bones. When a second stored set of remains is found with the victim’s dog tags, the mystery deepens. (SCRIBNER, Sep., 320 pp., $26.99)
