SPIN THE PLATE
by Donna Anastasi

Genre: Contemporary Romance, General Contemporary Romance
Sensuality: HOT

RT Rating

Confrontational Jo wears her extra weight and attitude like a shield against the horrors of the world and her own past as an incest survivor. Francis must scale Jo’s many walls to the scarred and hurting woman hidden below. Anastasi’s love story is slower and more muted than many romance readers would want, but she does a wonderful job of portraying trust and forgiveness.

From their first meeting, Jo believes that Francis is a freak as he smiles in the face of her most fearsome glare. He will need his patience and kindness to get past Jo’s defenses, which are due to a childhood filled with horror. For Francis, Jo is the realization of a dream and an end to his lonely existence. He shows Jo the way to love and forgiveness, for herself and those who have hurt her. In the process, he learns how to step out from the shadows himself. (BLACK ROSE, May, 196 pp., $16.95)

I very much appreciate the RT Review of my novel Spin the Plate! I do wonder, though, if readers seeking a "Hot" novel would be disappointed. As far as the relationship between the heroine and hero this is more a love story than a typical romance story: quite tame and sweet. There are explicit descriptions in brief flashbacks of sexual abuse, but I'd categorize this as violence, not sensuality. Donna Anastasi
