When firefighter Shannon O'Shea is trapped in a burning building, an unidentified man pulls her to safety. She's convinced her rescuer is mysterious new firefighter John Forrester, but he denies being at the scene. The blaze proves to be no accident, however, and Shannon must face both her suspicions of the man and her attraction to him. In Code Red's first installment, Spontaneous Combustion (4.5), Bobby Hutchinson takes us on a compelling, fast-paced journey into a community of heroes. The themes involving trust and family are well integrated into the plot, the writing is smooth and the main characters are likable and sympathetic.
