Perrin has all the elements of a solid suspense here. Secrets are revealed. Lies
are told. And bodies mysteriously turn
up. But the main character's constant what-ifs get annoying. She asks the
questions that readers will most likely
be asking, but her questions never stop. Aside from that, this interesting story
will surely keep readers on their toes.
Three friends -- Chanetelle, Ashley and Erica -- take spring break on the island of Artula. When one of them winds up missing, her disappearance uncovers secrets of white slavery and child molestation. Intent on discovering the truth behind her friend's disappearance, Chanetelle risks life and limb to get to the bottom of things. (ST. MARTIN'S GRIFFIN, Mar., 336 pp., $14.99)
