STAGED TO DEATH
by Karen Rose Smith

Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Mystery, Amateur Sleuth

RT Rating

Prolific romance author Smith successfully dives into the mystery genre with the debut of her new series. Smith has created a refreshing, feel-good world in which family and friends help each other when things get tough. The lives of Caprice and her family members are as important to the plot as the mystery. A bit of romance runs throughout the story, too.

Caprice DeLuca stages homes for wealthy clients and her latest job is at the castle-like mansion owned by her friend, Roz. Caprice is worried about the appearance of a room filled with antique swords and daggers that Roz’s husband refuses to put away in storage. Then, to her shock, someone is stabbed to death with one of the weapons during the open house, and Roz becomes the main suspect. Caprice comes to her aid, doing whatever she can to clear her friend and find the real killer. (KENSINGTON, Dec., 304 pp., $7.99)
