RT Rating

Machado’s Stonewiser trilogy draws to a brilliant conclusion with the same unexpected twists that have become her trademark. Her worldbuilding skills are remarkable, and each character is finely crafted. Readers will enjoy every minute of this roller-coaster ride of emotion and anticipation.

Sariah and Kael are seeking their son who was separated from them at birth — a child who is the only one who can set things to right in the world. Sariah is a rogue stonewiser whose powers are increasing through the tales she reads in her stones. Kael is a rebel leader who finds their quest arduous. When they find their son, they discover that Sariah delivered two other children as well, one of whom is now fully grown and the other in the body of a lynx. They must defy the goddess, defeat an army and challenge the stones to survive. (MERMAID, Feb., 602 pp., $16.99)
