INTO THE STORM
by Taylor Anderson

Genre: Science Fiction, General Science Fiction

RT Rating

This first of the Destroyerman trilogy will absorb readers who enjoy history as well as science fiction. It succeeds on many levels. It's an exciting story of a World War II battle in the Pacific with accurate historical and technical detail. It's also a great adventure in an alternate world. This gripping read is hard to put down.

World War II breaks out
and Lieutenant Commander Matthew Patrick Reddy is made captain of the USS Walker, a destroyer out in the Pacific. When they're engaged in
battle with the Japanese, things don't look good. He heads for a squall hoping for cover.

When the squall passes there's no sign of the Japanese. The ship makes
for land, but something is wrong. A monster fish attacks, and when they spot dinosaurs grazing on what should be Bali they realize they've stumbled into
an alternate world. (ROC, Jun., 400 pp., $23.95)
