This wonderful story is about finding love amid chaos and devastation. The heroine and hero are a likable couple, and the secondary characters are funny and charismatic. The story moves along at a fast clip as it shows how familial love can triumph over devastation.

Sabrina Adams has always been in love with John Lewis. Now
grown, she's a new schoolteacher in New Orleans, and trumpeter John is a jazz musician. Sabrina visits John at the club where he plays, and before she can return home, Hurricane Katrina roars into New Orleans.

They come together at a shelter while escaping the storm. Sabrina worries about her grandmother and uncle, while John watches over her. Meanwhile, her grandmother and her best friend are playing matchmaker with their grandchildren. John begins playing concerts around the city to bring some happiness and cheer to the evacuees. Will they find love amid the chaos? (Genesis/Indigo, Aug., 304 pp., $6.99)
