Alexander Sheffield tries very hard to live up to his family's low expectations of him. When a young relative needs rescuing from Russia, it is Alex who risks all to go and bring him home. En route, Alex encounters the redoubtable governess Miss Olivia Hadley, who is being sent to Russia by a nefarious kinsman. She and Alex discover an attraction which neither of them feels entitled to pursue. When their paths separate in Moscow, they are secretly disappointed. Fate has other plans for these two; when the French Army invades Moscow, they are tossed back together along with their young charges. THE STORYBOOK HERO (3) is highly enjoyable, even if the lovers were parted for nearly a third of the book. Andrea Pickens has a deft touch with dialogue and her characters are very easy to like.
