Clare’s first Billionaire Boys Club is a fun, refreshing and thoroughly entertaining read. By stripping her characters of their stereotypical trappings and their own prejudices, she allows her main couple to interact as equals in ways this trope usually doesn’t permit, giving them the freedom to grow and change in surprising ways. The tension grows steadily, providing the fuel to keep this sizzling plot moving, and the characters’ connection gives them the strength to overcome any distance or challenge. With a wonderfully imagined premise and Clare’s unique brand of humor, this story launches a promising series.

Billionaire Logan Hawkings appears to have it all. But after a disastrous engagement and the death of his overbearing father, what he most needs is a vacation. A trip to his newest business acquisition — a private island resort in the Bahamas — seems just the solution, until the island is hit by a massive hurricane, trapping Logan inside. Fortunately, he’s stuck alongside Brontë Dawson. She’s bright, beautiful and, best of all, she doesn’t have a clue who Logan is. Will their newfound connection survive when help arrives, or will Brontë’s love prove to be the one thing Logan’s money can’t buy? (BERKLEY SENSATION, Jul., 304 pp., $7.99)
