STRANDS OF GOLD

Author(s):

Kind-hearted Princess Airen embodies all that is good, and her powers as a moondancer are greater than any before her. Her older sister, Edana, secretly belongs to an evil sect of moondancers known as Ravens, whose powers hails from the dark side. Edana is pure evil and would love to destroy Airen and the other moondancers and become queen and high priestess herself.

The time of the gathering has come and King Cronan plans to wed Edana to the most powerful lord in Graystone in order to bring him to heel. Dane Haverson, however, has other ideas. Three years earlier, his life was ruined when a moondancer cursed his family, causing the deaths of his wife and child.

When his horse nearly tramples Princess Airen in the forest on his way to the castle, Dane sees it as the perfect opportunity to kill one of the king's evil moondancer daughters. Airen is surprised to stumble upon Dane, the subject of her "destiny." Thus begins the unfolding of a tale as sweet as any of the fairy tales we've loved over the years.

Ms. Morgan gifts readers with a wonderful rendition of Rumpelstiltskin in her fairy tale romance. She cleverly weaves Rumpelstiltskin with her own special brand of fantasy to create a mesmerizing tapestry that will keep you up into the wee hours of the morning. With deft characterization, rich, colorful backdrop and a unique voice, this is a tale to savor. Very Sensual (Dec., 360 pp., $5.99)
