by Kimberly Raye

Genre: Paranormal/Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance

2002 Best Contemporary Paranormal Nominee

RT Rating

Dutiful daughter Callie Wisdom has returned to New Orleans to aid her ailing father. Now blind, he is but a shell of his former self. Doctors can find no cure and Callie knows he suffers from a curse which befalls the men of her family. Callies ancestress, Catherine, is responsible for this terrifying curse.

At her mothers antique shop, Callie meets the gorgeous Alex Daimon. But Alex is not what he seems, having been sent by the devil to take Callies innocence and deliver her soul to the depths of hell. But Callies kindness and courageous struggle against Catherines possession touches a part of Alex long thought forgotten. Though the punishment for failing his mission is very severe, Alex reveals how hes been the devils minion for the last one hundred years. Will Callies love conquer all, saving both Alex and herself, and curing her father?

Ms. Raye has written an enthralling paranormal, with dream sequences
cleverly blurring the line between reality and the supernatural, capturing the readers attention and never letting go. As the romance between Callie and Alex sizzles, lust fades into love proving, once again, that good can overcome evil. Even the reader who is wary of the paranormal romance sub-genre will want to savor this well-crafted read. (Jan., 368 pp., $5.99)
