Caitlin Strong, the first female Texas Ranger, is following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather. After a shoot-out along the Mexican border has deadly consequences, Caitlin resigns from the Rangers and tries to rebuild her life. Five years later she she stumbles upon something earth-shattering, re-opening the investigation into what really happened.

Caitlin's help comes in the unlikely form of Cort Wesley Masters, an ex-con who wants her to pay for past mistakes. They form an uneasy alliance as the search for the truth takes them from Washington to Bahrain and finally back to where it all began -- Mexico. (FORGE, May, 352 pp., $24.95)
