Book Review

by Jon Land

Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Thriller

RT Rating

Land is an old hand at the action thriller, and he does not disappoint here. Readers who like gritty, fearless heroines and tough guys with a heart will enjoy the thrill ride, and there’s plenty of relationship subplot available when the bodies start to pile up a little too high. There is a lot going on in this book, however, and despite his well-practiced hand it can sometimes be frustrating to try to follow so many threads.

Fifth-generation Texas Ranger Caitlin Strong returns to kick some bad-guy butt with a little help from modern-day outlaw Cort Wesley Masters. A case that begins with a runaway Mexican girl leads Caitlin and Cort Wesley along a tangled trail that involves a serial killer, a town beset by inexplicable violence, a vigilante and a white slavery ring, all of which are linked not only to the safety of the country, but to Caitlin’s past.
