In the fourth Vegas Vampire book, bestseller McCarthy brings us another novel sure to thrill fans and enchant new readers. The characterizations are fabulous, the dialogue clever and the story world delightfully believable. Both the humans and vampires are three-dimensional, capable of great emotion and humor.

Vampiress Gwenna
Carrick, the 900-year-old ex-
wife of notorious vampire Roberto Donatelli, hasn't had it easy since
the divorce. She's spent the past
300 years celibate, dealing with
the control-freak nature of her
loving, casino-owning brother,
and fighting off harassment by
her domineering ex.

Then she discovers a murder
victim and has one wildly passionate night with -- dare she admit it? -- a human. That human, detective Nate Thomas, becomes enraptured by
Gwenna. But there are problems everywhere, especially when Nate makes it onto Roberto's hit list. (BERKLEY SENSATION, Jan., 304 pp., $14.00)
