Book Review

A SUMMER IN SONOMA
by Robyn Carr

Genre: Mainstream, General Mainstream Fiction

RT Rating

Well-rounded characters, a plot rich in emotion and humor and one sweet romance make this a great read. Not for the beach, unless you’re looking for something meatier than the usual fare.

Four friends are at different places in their lives. E.R. nurse Cassie is on a date that goes horribly wrong when she’s rescued by Walt. The two become friends, but Cassie’s looking for a man with ambition beyond being a mechanic. Julie and firefighter Billy are nearing bankruptcy with a fourth child on the way. Firefighter Joe is married to Marty, but he takes her for granted, making Marty’s ex-boyfriend appealing. Doctor Beth is facing a second bout with breast cancer alone until her oncologist, Jerod, makes it clear that he’s interested in more than her treatment. (MIRA, Jul., 416 pp., $7.99)
