When a mysterious letter arrives informing Dr. Gemma Jericho's mother, Nonna, about an inheritance in Tuscany, they can't believe it. Nonna hasn't been back to her home village of Bella Piacere in Tuscany in more than 40 years. There is some mystery about the "inheritance" and a caution that Nonna must return to claim it before it's too late.

Three generations of Jericho women descend on Bella Piacere. What they find is puzzling, for while some insist that a will exists, a possibly unscrupulous lawyer has already sold the Villa to wealthy businessman Ben Raphael. Ben plans to convert it to a hotel, and both he and Gemma lock horns several times. Finally they agree to make it a quest; track down the missing lawyer and attempt to find the "Will." It's a winner takes all proposition.

The beauty and rich culture of Tuscany form a wonderfully romantic and compelling backdrop for this delightful novel. Ms. Adler's characters are complex and riveting, making this another must-read novel. (Jul., 368 pp., $23.95)
