Hawkins’ latest Lord of Vice tale is charming, fun and sexy. Though short, the story packs a delightful punch. Even though Hawkins takes the time to fill readers in more on the characters from her past novels, which slows the pace, fans will be content with this new addition to the series.
Lord of Vice, Christopher Courtland, Earl of Vaneright is uninterested in his mother’s matchmaking schemes until he unexpectedly meets Miss Isabel Thorne. She stops a pickpocket from running off with Vane’s snuffbox. Her bravery intrigues Christopher, but it’s her rapier tongue and strong will that make him want to seduce her. She’s just the challenge he needs to make life interesting. But Isabel wants nothing to do with the renowned rogue. Then his mother approaches Isabel to help bring Isabel’s beautiful sister to Vane’s attention. She would be perfect for Vane, but Vane’s beginning to think Isabel is ideal. As they square off for a battle of the sexes, everything heats up and with the involvement of the other Lords of Vice and his mother, as well as Isabel’s sister’s desires, the games begin. (ST. Not as good as the others, but a quick read. Left unresolved issues that I hope will be resolved in coming issues. I especially don't like that Frost is being painting as the worst of the Lords of Vice, with an uncaring heart and disliked by his friends when he is by far the most interesting character to date. Sincerely hope coming books will be more entertaining than this book. Basically, was disappointed.
