Determined to boost the ratings of her TV show, reporter Nicky Sullivan calls on her mom, a renowned medium. Years ago, in Nicky's South Carolina hometown, 17-year-old Tara Mitchell was stabbed to death and two of her friends disappeared. Since then, claims that the old mansion where the crime occurred is haunted have surfaced, and Nicky hopes that doing a live séance from it will add a kick to the ratings.

Police chief Joe Franconi isn't thrilled about the idea, but there's nothing he can do. But no one expects a new murder to take place. While hunting for her assistant Karen, Nicky is attacked and nearly killed by a dark figure who has already stabbed Karen to death. Suddenly Joe has a killer on his hands, but is it the same killer from years ago or a copycat? Regardless, this killer is fixated on Nicky and letting her know that this is only the beginning.
