Book Review

THE SURRENDER
by Gilbert Morris

Genre: Inspirational, Historical Romance

RT Rating

Morris does his research for all his books and he carefully and realistically brings to life the triumphs and tragedies of the Civil War. The third and final book in The Last Cavaliers series concerns the devastation left behind for the survivors to clean up. His characters are more than names on the page, and they become real for the reader.

Morgan Tremayne is an upright man who always follows the letter of the law. When Robert E. Lee becomes involved in the war, Morgan follows him into battle not knowing what to expect. He leaves behind his horse farm, his good reputation and a young orphan he has raised by himself. When a life-changing injury on Gettysburg’s fields force Morgan to realize what is, and what is not, worth dying for, his life will never be the same. (BARBOUR, Apr., 320 pp., $14.99)
