Jump’s expert storytelling shines as she delves into matters of the heart in her latest Sweetheart Sisters story. Genuine and flawed, Mike and Diana are appealing in their vulnerability, and the sisters continue to be charming, colorful characters. A solid plot, strong tension and steady pacing draws the reader into this delightful read.

Coast Guard Lt. Mike Stark is on leave for 30 days when his ex-wife takes off, leaving behind their two daughters. Now in Rescue Bay, Fla., and facing sudden single-fatherhood, he is the last person veterinarian and single mother Diana Tuttle expected to see. She had a one-night stand with Mike six months ago and opened up her heart to him. Diana wants a man who will commit, but despite their attraction, it’s clear that Mike is not that man. Yet with the help of the elderly Sweetheart Sisters, there could be a chance. (BERKLEY SENSATION, Apr., 304 pp., $7.99)
