Queen Brienna Rhoswen is traveling with her handmaiden to Kylemore to force Lord Torrick to either honor their betrothal or set her free so that she can find a man strong enough to help defeat her cousin Thane from taking over Avalbane. When they are set upon by highwaymen, Brienna, a warrior, tries to save them, but the men are stronger.

Brogan subdues Brienna, believing that she's a messenger for the queen. He agrees to take her to Kylemore if she stops trying to escape. Their journey is fraught with danger, and their attraction hot and fierce. When they finally arrive at Kylemore, Brie is surprised to learn that the man she's fallen in love with is actually the man to whom she's betrothed. Since they both hid their identities, will the truth destroy them, or will Thane do it for them?

Although this book is labeled a fantasy, fans of medieval romances will truly enjoy this fast-paced, hot love story. This is an enjoyable story with good characters, action and dialogue. (dl $5.50)
