If you are looking for a rougher, darker world of vampires and werewolves, you’ve found it. Nothing sparkles. There are no roses and moonlit walks. There is a lot of serious action and butt-kicking. In this second installment of the series featuring Lady Death, there are more secrets and even more conflicts. The story flows at a steady pace. The characters are edgy, and the main character, Kat, is the epitome of a strong female protagonist with firm ideals. It’s all exhilarating!

Kat Redding, also known as Lady Death, is everything she despises: a vampire. Hunting vampires and werewolves is what she does to keep herself sane. Protecting the human Purebloods is what drives her. It would appear that Lady Death has a copy cat, and this poor imitation is causing problems among vampires and werewolves. Werewolf clans and vampire houses are blaming her for the rash of murders. Forming a cautious alliance with the Luna cult and a werewolf, Kat learns some disturbing truths. When the time comes, will she decide to leave her life of vengeance behind? (KENSINGTON, Jul., 352 pp., $7.99)
