Adrian sets the action in her latest Midnight Breed series just days after the pulse-pounding conclusion of Shades of Midnight. The heroine in this tale must now deal with the ramifications of her life-altering run-in with an Ancient. Keeping a long-running series evolving in an intriguing manner is no easy task, but Adrian pulls it off with seeming ease. It will be interesting to see what’s next.

For some strange reason, the deadly Ancient (progenitor of the Breeds), spared the life of former Alaska Trooper Jenna Darrow; instead of killing her, he changed her in an unknown fashion. The Breed Warriors take Jenna to Boston so they can attempt to understand what is happening to her on a biological level. Although she is not a Breedmate, Brock has felt a strong connection to Jenna ever since he help alleviate her pain. Although the Ancient is now destroyed, evil Dragos remains at large and he is about to unleash a terrible new twist on his horrific plans. Jenna has been thrust into an alien world; does she have the strength to survive? And will she allow Brock into her battered heart? (DELL, Oct., 400 pp., $7.99)

Never dissapointed with Lara Adrian

One of my favorite vampire series. I can always count on an enjoyable read from Lara Adrian. The Order's vampires are my second favorite bunch after JR Ward's boys. Those glowing eyes and pulsating colorfull dermaglyphs are so cool. The fact that they are descendants of an alien race is unique. I never get tired of reading about the challanges the Gen One vamps and the breeds face along with their mates and always look forward to the next book.
