This series “chronicling” the life of Beatrix Potter is the ultimate in cozy mystery. No violence, not even implied, may make this story too treacly for some readers, but others may consider it the perfect read for a hot summer afternoon spent in a Victorian rose garden. It’s a slice of pastoral life in days gone by, and a thoroughly enjoyable story.

Miss Potter has once again escaped London (and her parents) to spend some time at her beloved Hill Top Farm. But no sooner has she arrived when her good friend Grace asks Beatrix to find out who has been sending threatening letters opposing Grace’s nuptials. Further complicating life in the country, a very loud hydroplane is flying back and forth across the lake at all hours and disturbing the peace of “big folks” and animal residents alike.
