TALES OF A DRAMA QUEEN

Author(s):

After her fiancé suddenly marries an Iowan, Elle Medina moves to Santa Barbara near her friend Maya and Maya's boyfriend, Brad (aka "Perfect Brad" or P.B.). Elle needs a place of her own, which means she needs money and a job.

Unfortunately, she's virtually unemployable due to a lack of skills and work experience. But she gets a few gigs. Her attempts at bartending are pathetic (especially when the blender cap comes off!). She fails miserably as a store P.I. but does well at being a phone psychic, except when her conscience interferes. Elle also has her share of man problems, including a juvenile delinquent she calls "Eddie Munster," a charming con man named Joshua, a redheaded lawyer named Merrick, a bill collector named Carlos and a thug named Dingle.

An often amusing and zany debut novel. (Jul., 288 pp., $12.95)
