TALK OF THE TOWN
by Lisa Wingate

Genre: Inspirational, Contemporary Romance

RT Rating

Wingate has another hit with this funny, entertaining novel. Changing points of view between the two main characters in alternating chapters keeps the plot moving quickly and allows the voice to remain fresh throughout. The contrast between small-town Imagene and big-city Mandalay is comical yet still touching. This tale is a little light in spiritual content, but it doesn't detract from the sweet story.

Mandalay Florentino is in charge of setting up the hometown visit for "American Megastar" television-
show contestant Amber Anderson. So she goes to the tiny town of Daily, Texas, to make arrangements. She isn't too sure about what she finds -- from the quirky "motel" to the interesting residents, including waitress Imagene Doll. Although Mandalay is sure she kept things secret, the paparazzi begin to arrive, and everything is thrown into a tailspin. (BETHANY HOUSE, Feb., 320 pp., $13.99)
