Rancher Linc Ketchum needs help while recovering from severe burns to his hands that he suffered in a barn fire. As a favor to his cousin, nurse Nevada Ortiz agrees to take on the job--over Linc's objections. A confirmed bachelor, he refuses to let Nevada get close, even after they become lovers. But to avoid losing her, Linc must face the truth about his past. Stella Bagwell's Taming a Dark Horse (3) is a quick and often entertaining read. Although Linc's treatment of Nevada occasionally veers toward emotional abuse, his bitterness is well explained--and she's never portrayed as a victim.
