Gibson is a masterful author in full command of her storytelling skills. Her latest is well plotted and filled with humorous dialogue and complex characters, all in a quirky setting that's perfect for a sexy romance. This is a highly compelling, very fun summer read.

When true crime writer Maddie Dupree finds her late mother's diaries, she sets off to uncover a long-buried secret -- one that leads her back to Truly, Idaho.

Mick Hennessy, a 35-year-old former Army pilot who now owns a bar in Truly, is the one man whose personal history intermingles with Maddie's. When they meet, the attraction sparks hot and fast. But Maddie's writing project puts them on opposite sides of a decades-old scandal that riles up the townspeople. But even this can't stop the flame from burning when they touch, and soon Mick and Maddie must decide what's more important -- the past or the future. (AVON, Aug., 384 pp., $6.99)
