TARA THE GREAT
by Lorie O'Clare

Genre: Contemporary Romance, E-book

RT Rating

The second installment in the Nuworld series is not for the faint of heart. Darius and Tara are both difficult characters to like. Darius comes from a society where raping a woman is permitted and beating them is normal, and the two engage in hands-on fight scenes. This would be easier to swallow if they weren't married with two kids. That Tara is a warrior and skilled fighter doesn't lend credibility to her taking a punch from an angry spouse.

There are several references to rape, and Darius is guilty of beating and raping his wife's half-sister. It's not surprising that Tara is angry at him for sleeping with her sibling and spawning a child. As they struggle to overcome his betrayal, they fight a war against a people even less scrupulous than they are.

As bad as the good guys are, you
want them to win over the new threat, because the Lunians are worse. There's hope for the people on Nuworld because religion is just making its way there. Characters like Torgo, Darius' little brother, seem to promise a better future for this developing nation. (dl $6.49)
