TASK FORCE BRIDE (4.5) by Julie Miller: The KCPD is still looking for the Rose Red Rapist and it looks like the shy woman who owns the local bridal shop may be their only lead. Miller’s apparent wrap-up (with the KCPD, you just never know) of this storyline is satisfying, romantic and exhilarating. After escaping an encounter with the Rose Red Rapist, Hope Lockhart may be the only way for the task force to find the man and she agrees to be the bait, working with K-9 cop Edison “Pike” Taylor. Pike’s frequent overtures to Hope have all been rebuffed in the past, but he’s looking forward to this assignment to get to know her better and get a criminal off the street. But he’s got his work cut out for him. Hope is shy, reclusive and terrified of his K-9 partner, Hans. Working undercover as Hope’s fiancé isn’t going to be easy, but keeping her safe is going to be the hardest thing he can do.
